Thank you, Fred. People need to read the fine print in their mortgage documents. Too many "sign and date here" without understanding what they're signing.
Spot on Brett regarding the information being fed to consumers! I got so fed up with the misinformation in the media about the current mortgage environment and Real Estate in general that I had to start a blog because my wife got tired of me yelling at the TV :-)

I really think we as Mortgage have an opportunity, and responsibility, to use new media forums like Oregon Real Estate Round Table to get the truth out. The fact is, even if the nightly news gets it right (which doesn't happen), you still can't pack enough relevant information into a 45 second report.

Fred - I really wish that most Brokers wouldn't discuss financing. You know a lot about it, but most don't. Much in the way I don't know enough about negotiating a purchase & sale agreement to speak intelligently about it. I can't tell you how many times I have had to "re-educate" borrowers who were told something completely inaccurate about financing by their Agent.

Brett,

You are being unfailr to real estate brokers. Brokers are writing offers and trying to put deals together every day. If they tell a client they feel they will need 20% down there is agood reason for it. It is not like Brokers have a reason to mislead people that trust them to help them fullfill their real estate needs and goals.

I feel if anything the consumer is not being served well by the National Mortgage Broker and Mortgage Banker associations. They have allwoed the needs of the consumer to be ignored during this credit crunch.
