Dawson Park Summer Events 2015

Eliot Neighborhood

It’s summertime and that means another great season of entertainment at Dawson Park is upon us.  Thanks to the support of our amazing sponsors and individual donators, we raised enough money to host 4 concerts and one movie night!  These events are Free To The Public and are a great way to spend an evening out in the neighborhood.  Concerts start at 6:30pm and there will be a few food vendors on site including My Mamma’s Gumbo, Island Daydream Shaved Ice, and Nia Water Beverage Catering.  During movie night, live performances by local musicians and free popcorn begin at 6:30pm and the movie starts at dusk.

Want to grow your own marijuana? Here is how to get started in Oregon

Starting Wednesday, there’s nothing to keep Oregonians from adding a cannabis plant or two – or even four – to their backyard vegetable gardens.

• Concealing Misalignment: Apply an inch of white paint along the top of the wall before you wallpaper over dark paint or wallpaper.  This will ensure that any misalignment isn’t noticeable.

• Gather the All Tools before You Begin Wallpapering:  Before you begin hanging your wallpaper, ensure that you have all the needed tools. These include but not limited to: wallpaper brush, scissors…

No one in the arts field wants gentrification.

[Correction, almost no one wants gentrification. I once was in a meeting where someone said, “This area will be great once it gets gentrified.” I was floored. That guy is the exception.]

Gentrification is an easy concept to understand, but it’s hard to admit when it’s happening. And it’s even harder to admit it when we’re a part of the process when we didn’t mean to be.

The belief that the arts can help lift a community start with one common belief – the arts are for everyone. Not just the privileged, not just the few, but literally every person. That’s why we all dedicate our lives to exposing as many people as possible…
